HIV infection is a worrying prospect and rightly so. Still incurable but thankfully manageable.

However, prevention is better than ongoing management, so if you have had a risky exposure within the last 72 hours then there is medication available to help minimise your risk. Known as the post exposure prophylaxis or PEP this medication combats early HIV in your blood and significantly reduces the risk of an infection.

PEP is taken for 28 days in total.
