HIV is a worrying disease for many. Those who are sexually active should take precautions if they ever engage in unprotected sexual intercourse with casual partners.

Firstly, condoms are an absolute must for those engaging in sex with casual partners. This not only reduces the risk of HIV but other STDs as well.

However, sometimes condoms aren’t an option or they may fail. This is where being on pre exposure prophylaxis or PrEP for HIV is very effective. Taken once daily for as long as you need, the medication acts as a safety net preventing HIV exposure. Although it is very effective it doesn’t replace condoms, it just adds that second layer of defence.
