Testing now is simpler than ever. Previously a full blood draw needed to be made, which was then sent to the laboratory. Results would take several days to return. So as you can see it wasn’t a simple, quick procedure and the thought of waiting often put people off.

However, nowadays we have rapid testing available in the form of fingerprick tests and mouth swabs that give results within 15-20 minutes. These are effective ways of screening and are comparable to the accuracy of the lab tests.
